I spoke to Layne on the phone for about an hour the other night.   He's alive and well, living in Green River, Wyoming near his kids and loving the fishing and hunting there.   He's retired..  says he's been retired for a number of years and enjoying the "easy" life.   He sees Wayne Holden from time to time, and keeps trying to get Wayne to go fishing with him.  Wayne is married to Layne's younger sister Jill.   Norm Cox has visited Layne a couple of times in the past year - on fishing trips - and he reports that Layne had a serious boating injury a while back - broke his hip.   Apparently, the healing process is complicated and Layne says he may need further surgery.  We wish him well.
