You said you wanted to hear more about my life since Payson.
Not much to tell. As I said we started the snowbird life in the fall of
95. We absolutely love it!!!! Never thought retirement could be so much fine .
We live in an adult RV park and they have as many varied activities as a person
could want. I lead an exercise class 3 mornings a week and am an avid
shuffleboard player. My husband loves to go out into the desert with his metal
detector and dry-washer and try to make us rich by finding gold. The key word
there is "try". He has found a few nuggets, flakes and some dust - enough
to
keep him interested but not enough to put us in a class with Donald Trump.
We used to come down to Yuma sometime in September and leave in early May but we stayed all summer this year and expect to do the same this coming year. It is a great life. I would imagine there are some snowbirds in Vegas but we wanted to be further south. St. George was never an option because it still gets colder there in the winter than we prefer and they are known to have snow occasionally and we are definitely allergic to it. Jerry and Erma Buys are still in Payson - he is retired. Ferrell and Beverly (Taylor) Evans lived around the corner from me for most of the time I was in Payson. We moved away from their area in '95 and built a new home on the northeast side of Payson. The last I knew they owned a small grocery store in Santaquin but doubt they still have that. We spend so little time up there any more.
I always liked to be there during the Labor Day Celebration because I could still old friends but I don't even do that anymore. I worked for Nebo School District for 30 years as an Educational Secretary in the Payson Middle School. Raised 3 kids who now live in Mass, Alaska and Utah. Was a volunteer EMT for Payson Ambulance for lots of years and it was an interesting and different experience. I think the golden years are really that - "golden".
Don't know what else I can tell you. It wouldn't be hard to contact Jerry or Beverly and I am racking my tired brain to think of any news I could tell you about the classmates left in Payson. If you attended the last reunion (which I didn't) you probably know more than I do. I was surprised that there weren't more of them listed on the register for classmates.com. I was disappointed to see such a small list. It would be nice if the word could get out to more people that it existed and get lots of them on it.
You must like the warm weather if you moved to Las Vegas full time. Can't blame you for that.

I worked in S.L. for a couple of years after graduating from Payson High. Then worked at BYU for a couple of years. After last child entered school I went to work for Nebo School District as an Educational Secretary. Worked at the Payson Middle School and retired after 30 years. Following retirement we came to Yuma, AZ as snowbirds. Spent from 1995 to 2000 going back to Payson for the summer. Spent summer of 2001 in Arizona and plan on doing some for the near future. Have found out that the golden years are just that - golden. Am having a great time and love this life. We have a newly purchased manufactured home in an adult RV park and there are never enough hours in the day to do the things I want to do. I think it is better to "wear out than rust out" and I am doing just that. Life is good!!!!
