Spouse: Joan
I married Joan Ketter on Jul 11, 1956 in the Logan Temple. Fortunately most anniversaries have been remembered until recent years when "senior moments" have become more frequent. We have been blessed with five daughters and five sons - our only claim to family planning. The family has swelled with forty-six grandchildren.
I graduated from the University of Utah (or "Gentile University" as known in Utah Country) in 1957 in Metallurgical Engineering and went immediately to work for U.S. Steel at Geneva Works for 30 years with seven years spent as Chief Metallurgist. The last twelve years of my career were with Geneva Steel Corporation. Most of this time was in marketing and sales.
During the past fifty years I've enjoyed lots of family vacations, parties, outings and other events. Sports such as archery, hunting, white water rafting, fishing and all team sports (playing and coaching) have been enjoyable as have been church involvements and photography. Joan and I have vacationed in Israel, Japan, Canada, Hawaii, Alaska and most of the other states. Being Varsity Scout Coach was too much fun to have in church.
Things I enjoy doing now are largely trying to keep up with the children and grandchildren.
P.S. To Jerry. Thanks for our efforts in behalf of a Payson High School 50th reunion. It doesn't seem that long ago unless I look in the mirror or try to do something very physical (or even mental for that matter.) Enclosed are a couple of photos. One is is our home and I can't remember where the other was. It was at a Steel Service Center Institute Conference when we were invited to come to dinner dressed in 1950's period attire.
Best luck, Phil
P.P.S. Joan and I are planning to attend the reunion.
