In writing my biography, I wish I could be clever, but my brain is lost forever. My hair has gotten whiter and my body broader. I have gotten older but not smarter. I am losing my hearing and eye sight, but have some how managed to keep my teeth.
After graduating from high school I only attended one quarter of college. I worked for Beneficial Life Insurance Company for 6 yrs. I was a key punch operator working my way up to be on the IBM machines and large computers doing the accounting.
I met my husband on a blind date, when he had only been home two weeks from his mission to Australia. We courted for almost two years and were married in the Salt Lake Temple. Two years after we were married, he started his own business. I was his office girl and bookkeeper. He served in the Bishopric for five years. He has now been retired for 2 yrs. We have four children and 7 grandchildren and have been married for 43 years. I have loved being a wife, mother and grandmother.
To tell you my accomplishments and not my children’s is missing the point. For in them are my accomplishments. They are all that I ever hoped to be. Our oldest son served a mission to Nagoya, Japan, is Intel’s top design Engineer, being on the team that invented the Pentium Chip, and some of the following Pentium series. He has over 35 patents in his name. Our daughter has a masters degree in Geology, she was the Geologist over the Arizona Strip for the BLM. She now manages the Vermillion Cliffs National Monument. Our second son served a mission to Buenos Aries, Argentina, has a MBA in International Business, has worked for Ford Motor Co., Intel, and now for Fairbanks Capital. Our third son served a mission to Rome, Italy, is a Mechanical Engineer for Imco Inc.
I have always been active in the LDS Church. I have been a Dance Director, Sunday School Teacher, Bee Hive Teacher, Primary Teacher and in the Presidency, Relief Society Teacher & Secretary, Ward Librarian, Extraction and Family History Center.
We lived in Murray for 14 years. I designed our home that we had built in Sandy where we have now lived for 25 years. It is on a one half acre lot. It keeps both me and my husband busy. The last year we have had to cut back on how much I have in flowers, because of the drought. My husband says that I would rearrange the flowers in Heaven. I am a perennial flower gardener. I love the soil and the flowers and the color that dances along the ground. I take pictures of my flowers and use them for my paintings.
I taught myself how to use water colors and colored pencils from books from the library. I love the way the two mediums mix together to give me the affect that I am after. I like to paint anything and everything. I especially like to do portraits of my family members and ancestors, capturing the uniqueness of both young and old faces. For the last ten years I have taught at Robert’s Craft, Senior Citizen Centers, and Jordan School District in the Community Education. I teach human art anatomy, how to draw the face and figure, colored pencil and beginning and intermediate water color. Some of my students are now teaching.
I am a Genealogist, starting where those that have gone before me left off. I like to write family histories. I am now restoring old pictures on my computer. All my ancestors that I have found are grateful that they have been bound.
Between my sister and I, we took care of my mother for over ten years before she died. The last two years I have generously supported the local doctors and hospitals. Thank goodness for Medicare and Supplementary Insurance.
As far as traveling goes we have been to Argentina, Brazil, Canada, and many of the states in the good old USA.
